Many RDS have in common the integration of at least two SAP products. This can be seen for instance in CRM RDS. These RDS typically have detailed process descriptions and scenario diagrams describing and sketching the flow of its related processes. The process diagrams for CRM RDS have processes C63 (Opportunity Management) and C64 (Integrated ERP Order and Quotation Management) which both show the Integration between CRM and ERP with the purpose to create Sales Orders in ERP. This raises the idea how a picture would look like showing all the integrations between different products supplied by different packages. Starting with CRM RDS the integrationbetween ERP and CRM is delivered by the CRM Middleware. In a typical CRM system
transaction R3AC1 gives an overview of the objects and the modules for which integration for application objects with ERP is established. The diagrams for C63 and C64 show that for a CRM Opportunity ERP Quotations and Sales Orders are created via the integration (for Object SALESDOCUMENT).

Taking the information from C63 and C64 it is possible to draw a new diagram showing the integration of CRM and ERP. This can be even pinned down to application areas, because the specific integration here takes place between products CRM and ERP
and specifically between CRM Opportunity and ERP Sales Order and Quotation. By using Application Component Hierarchy elements the diagram then shows the integration between CRM-BTX-OPP and SD-SLS-QUT/SO.
Due to the bidirectional character of the CRM Middleware the integration is shown here to work in both directions. Now, C63
also indicates that after the creation of the Sales Order in ERP the process can be continued within ERP for instance with process 109 ‘Sales Order Processing: Sell from Stock’. The process step ‘Sales Order Entry’ just represents the connection point for C63/C64.

For the integration diagram this means adding application components for delivery, picking, packing, goods issues and billing.
Since the goal is to show the integration between products the integration between different ERP application components is omitted and the components are shown for clarification about all areas involved.
It is important for process 109 to make sure that the goods sold are available on stock. For 109 this is described in the according process description; the delivery in ERP is only created if stock is sufficient upon internal ATP check. How the integration picture can be extended when packages with other products get involved is shown in part II.
