New Fiori Apps Adoption Made Easy via New RDS Package Extension

May 16, 2014 Dirk Eyermann

Have you ever asked yourself: How can I be sure to have the most recent deployment and configuration guides for the Fiori apps rapid-deployment solution (RDS)?

Is there an easy way to successfully implement new Fiori Apps that are not yet part of thereleased RDS version?

SAP is now providing a Package Extension for the Fiori apps RDS. So if you didn’t find the latest Fiori Apps in the RDS, be sure to check out the Package Extension section for the SAP Fiori Apps RDS. It provides the most up-to-date accelerators to simplify the implementation of new Fiori apps. Once a new version of the RDS is released, the Package Extension will be included. With these incremental extensions you can be up-to-date even in between the regular 3 months release cycles.

The power behind the newly released Package Extension concept is quickly understood. The implementation effort for even the newest Fiori apps is very similar to other apps, which have already been released in the RDS. The implementation steps are largely the same, but the parameters need to be adapted individually, for instance the oData services names. The Package Extension allows you to use the SAP Fiori Apps RDS with additional configuration guides and it can be especially useful for early adoption implementation projects, including ones that are in a ramp-up phase.

While the Fiori Apps (RDS) already has a portfolio of 44 (transactional) Fiori apps, there are now more available in the Package Extension section ready to use.

Use this link to find the Package Extension on the Service Marketplace: https://service.sap.com/rds-fiori-apps --> select Package Extension on the left.
